Hi, I’m Leo.
I live in Japan, where minimalism isn’t really a trend — it’s just how life is set up. I started Minimal From Japan to share the storage solutions and everyday tools I actually use at home, along with the Japan-exclusive products that rarely make it overseas but are absolutely worth knowing about.
I’m in an international marriage, and living alongside a different culture every day has genuinely widened how I think about home and daily life. It’s also given me a new appreciation for what’s actually good about Japan — seeing it partly through an outsider’s eyes. Some of the images we each hold about the other’s country turn out to be spot on. Others are completely off. Noticing that gap is a big part of why I write this blog: I want to share what’s actually true, somewhere between “the Japan you see on social media” and “the Japan you live in.”
I’m not shipping from some warehouse — I’m in Yokohama, just outside Tokyo, actually walking into the same MUJI and Yamazaki Home stores I write about, picking up the region-limited items you won’t find on Amazon US.
My husband is French, so this site will eventually expand into French too — genuinely bilingual, written by someone who actually lives here, not machine-translated.
